JAMB 2019: Exam Revision for the Novel “Sweet Sixteen” by Bolaji Abdullahi

“Sweet Sixteen” by Bolaji Abdullahi is the official novel to be read by every JAMB candidate in the 2019 UTME, irrespective of the course you intend to study. We will therefore be embarking on Exam Revision to study this novel by giving summaries, possible questions and important information that would help you pass every single question set by JAMB from this novel. Please always check this publication for new updates on this revision class.
Every candidate registering for 2019 UTME is entitled to this novel, “Sweet Sixteen” by Bolaji Abdullahi, so ensure you demand for it at the centre where you are registering for UTME. It is compulsory, and it is your right to have it.
We will use this publication to link important resources, and future links concerning this novel. When we have summaries of the novel, or group of questions that you will find useful, we will be linking them below as we come closer to the exam.
Here is some basic information from the novel;
Author of Sweet 16: Bolaji Abdullahi
Genre: The Genre of Sweet Sixteen is Fiction
Number of Pages: Pages is Sweet Sixteen: 157
Publication Year: Sweet sixteen was published on February 1, 2017
Short Desciption: Aliya has to constantly remind her father that she is not a child but ‘a young adult.’ He does not always agree with her.
But now that she is turning sixteen, he is sitting up and taking notice. The expected birthday card from him is replaced by a present and no holds barred letter – a page for each year she has lived.
It chronicles the lessons he has tried to teach her and the wisdom he has attempted to pass to her. It unburdens the burning questions she has about life and sometimes shows through the cluelessness of parental units.
Aliya questions who she is and why she is; with her father as a guide on this journey of discovery. An engaging coming of age guide on life and love for the teenage girl.
Before we really get started, Have you already finished reading the novel? We believe it should take you up to 10 days to thoroughly complete this novel, so we’re throwing the flow open for those who have already finished the novel. How would you summarize what you understand from the book so far?

JAMB: Step-By-Step Admission Process On The CAPS

JAMB: Step-By-Step Admission Process On The CAPS
Having noticed that most admission seekers doesn’t understand the new admission processing system called CAPS ( Central Admissions Processing Systems ), so I decided to break it down to your understanding. I hope you will understand better.
Step-by-Step Admissions Process on the Central Admissions Processing Systems (CAPS)
1.The university would login into their respective caps platform.
2.choose their general cut off mark which was earlier advertised eg AAU -160.
3.Determine the percentage weight for jamb eg 50% or 60%.
4.Determine the percentage weight from the score obtained from the screening exercise eg 40% for school whose jamb percentage is 60% ( take both 100%).
5.Caps would calculate an aggregate/composite score based on the percentage the school gave to both utme & screening.
6.schools would then input departmental cut off mark:
School might decide to put different cut off based on certain criteria Eg.using medicine. Merit- 70
Catchment- 68
Educationaly less developed state-65
7.student from his/her department would be ranked based on the aggregate score by CAPS.
8.A proposed admission list would be sent to the school for those who met the cut off for various department.
9.The school would review the list.
And decide If they are to remove some persons( but reasons for removing such persons must be stated).
10.after the proposed admission list sent by jamb to the school have been approved by the school. They send the list Back to jamb.
11. Jamb would inform candidate to either accept or reject admission given to them by the school.
12.If they accept. They are admitted.
13.if they reject they would be taken to a “market place” where other university can consider them for admission.
14.candidates have 3days to accept or reject admission.
15.once you accept ur admission.you cannot reject again
CAPS official website : http://caps.jamb.gov.ng

Wish you goodluck in your admission processes.

JAMB 2018: Mistakes To Avoid For The Upcoming Screening

Admission screening date is fast approaching and students seems to be ready for it. But there are mistake you should avoid during this admission screening. This mistakes can cost you your admission if care is not taken and you know what that means, staying at home for a year to resit for JAMB exam can be frustrating.
Admission screening is in two forms, the physical screening and the point system screening through the use of computer. Let me shed more light on the two forms of screening;
Physical screening involves the student going to the school for interview. During this interview, they check your results (WAEC and JAMB result)and some other certificates like WAEC certificate, birth certificate and so on.
They will also ask you some sensitive questions just to test your intelligence. You can see some of the questions here.
Point system screening involves the use of point to grade the candidate WAEC and JAMB results. This screening does not require your presence in the school because all you have to do, be it submitting your certificates and results will be done through the computer. You can even do it yourself if you have the necessary equipments like computer, scanner, printer etc.
POST OUTLINES
1. Wrong spelling of your name.
2. Inconsistent age in your document.
3. Indecent dressing.
Now lets go to the main topic, mistakes you should avoid during admission screening. Take your time to read carefully.
Wrong spelling of your name
Most students usually ignore this thinking that it is a minor issue that can be resolved. But i tell that it is not a minor issue that can be resolved easily, i have seen alot of candidates that fell victim to this. Some schools might want to ignore this but you should make sure your names are well spelt.
If you are already a victim of this then the only solution i can recommend to you is that you should either go to JAMB office or the Admission office of the school to make corrections.
Inconsistent age in your document
There are cases where a student will fill in age 17 in his WAEC while they fill in for age 16 in his JAMB form. I don’t know the reason for this. But if you think you are smart enough to fake your age so as to gain admission ,the school has a way of finding out, remember that we are in a computer world, so things like that won’t be a problem to the school.
This happened in UNILORIN, when the school found out about fake ages and results, the students were expelled from the school. I know you know the shame in faining admission to a school and get expelled.
If you are already a victim of this, then you will have to go to JAMB office to make some corrections before the screening commence.
Indecent dressing
They usually say that people will address you the way you dress. You can identify a doctor by his white lab coat and stethoscope around his neck, you can identify a lawyer by his gown, you can also identify a thug by his indecent dressing. No school want to admit a thug because they believe that thugs will only promote cultism in the school.
Try to impress the interviewer with your decent dressing. This can also given an edge over other students.
Note: This is for candidates preparing for physical screening.
